"Integrative aromatherapy embraces the art, science, and bio-energetics of the skilled use of essential oils for their positive effecs in all aspects of life." - Valerie & Laraine (co-founders) Welcome to The Institute of Integrative Aromatherapy’s Certificate Program in Integrative Aromatherapy, founded in 1997. The Institute of Integrative Aromatherapy was co-founded by aromatherapist, holistic nurse and best selling author Valerie Cooksley, RN, OCN, FAAIM and aromatherapist, holistic nursing educator, Laraine Kyle, RN, BSN, MSN, CS, CMT, who, together, have more than sixty years of combined Nursing experience with proficient backgrounds in complimentary therapies, and public and professional education. Valerie and Laraine have contributed to the development of standards for aromatherapy education for many years and actively participated as Board members of Aromatherapy Registration Council (ARC), which offers a national exam in Aromatherapy. ENDORSEMENTS & CONTINUING EDUCATION This program is approved for 310 contact hours for nurses through February 17, 2012. This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the American Holistic Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses' Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. The IIA Certificate Program is approved for 325 continuing education contact hours for Massage Therapists through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the accrediting body of the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA). Approved through July 31, 2010. The program is recognized by the Associated Bodyworkers and Massage Professionals (ABMP) for the practitioner level of membership that provides liability insurance for office-based use of essential oils. The program prepares graduates to take the voluntary national exam provided by the Aromatherapy Registry Council (ARC). The IIA Certificate Program reviews various complimentary and alternative (CAM) healing approaches that can be used with essential oil therapy such as Herbal and Ayurvedic medicine, Flower Essence therapy, Homeopathy, Kinesiology, Touch therapies, Energetic Healing, Sacred blending and Family health.
